SALVATION ARMY ASSISTING THOSE IMPACTED BY FLOODING
Elkhart, IN (February 21, 2018) – Salvation Army personnel throughout the Elkhart community are responding to the recent flooding which experts say will continue creating challenges for local residents. Currently, The Salvation Army of Elkhart is opening emergency disaster social service cases to provide material, emotional, and spiritual assistance to those impacted. The Salvation Army Corps Community Center located at 300 N. Main Street in downtown Elkhart is also prepared as an overnight shelter and feeding location should Emergency Management officials request them to act in this capacity.
“The Salvation Army of Elkhart is ready to assist our neighbors experiencing hardships as a result of the resent and continued flooding in our community” said Lt. Shawn DeBaar, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army of Elkhart. “We will do everything within our capacity and ability to serve those during this natural disaster”.
Relief efforts will extend throughout the impacted region. In the short-term aftermath of the flooding, Salvation Army officers and staff will focus primarily on immediate needs providing food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care to impacted individuals and families.

Donors may also contribute via their phone bill by text messaging the word 2018FLOOD to 41444, and confirming the donation with the word, “Yes.” Checks may be made out to The Salvation Army Elkhart, 300 N. Main Street, Elkhart, IN 46516. Please designate Elkhart Floods on all checks.
At this point, in-kind donations are not being accepted.
